The congregation has accepted our new interim, the Rev. Susan Payne, unanimously! She is a 5th generation Disciple whose passion is sharing the message of God’s unbounded love and grace, encouraging congregations to live into the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) vision to be “a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.”
A second-career ordained minister, Susan has served congregations in Oklahoma (Prague FCC, Ponca City Community CC, Tulsa FCC, Bartlesville FCC) and Texas (Abilene FCC). In 2019 Susan was certified in Transitional Ministry by the
Interim Ministry Network.
Susan moved to Enid from Twin Falls, ID, to attend Phillips University, where she earned a B.A. in English. She then pursued a master’s degree in journalism/mass communication at the University of Oklahoma and became a public relations practitioner in the nonprofit and insurance sectors in Tulsa. When Susan perceived a call to ministry, she entered Phillips Theological
Seminary and completed a Master of Divinity degree, leading to her ordination in 2011.
Susan lives in Tulsa with her husband Chris and their four ridiculously spoiled rescue cats. She is mom to three lovely adult daughters - Kelsey Gilbert (Enid), Caitlin Raya (Florida), and Gillian Payne (Kansas City, MO) - and “Mimi” to five grandchildren.
This Sunday , back by popular demand, Mark Johnson will be with us! Mark was born and raised in Enid and grew up going to Central Christian Church. He was active in the children’s ministry, Youth ministry, youth choir, and various church camps. He was also a part of the regional youth council for the Disciples of Christ church. Since Mark graduated high school he has served in the ministry for the past 12 years in roles such as youth pastor, college pastor, and NextGen Pastor.
Mark’s greatest love next to Jesus is his wife Caylee and daughter Maxine. He and his wife moved back to Enid a year ago to start a family, teach vocal music with his older brother at Enid High, and be close to family. Mark is honored for the opportunity to share Jesus’ love with those who first shared it with him. Be sure to join us for worship this Sunday!
FYI—-from July 31, 2022 until further notice all worship services will be in the chapel!!
