In 1996, Kevin Arensman along with many of Central’s congregation, joined together to become the Hospital Caregivers of Central Christian Church. Their purpose was to expand the ministry of the church to provide a daily visit to every member who is in the hospital, especially on weekends and to check up on members after a hospital stay. And now, nearly 20 years later, that same ministry is visiting those in the hospital, bringing the love of the church to those in the hospital.
One of the family names that has been a big part of this ministry is the Vance Family. Dale and Melva Dean were charter members of the group, as was their daughter, Karen Foster, and now their daughter Carol, and her husband, John Ingram, call on those in the hospital. Some of the names you would remember who called on many in the hospital are Tom Berlie, Jewell Blackburn , Wayne Meneley, Dean Merriman, Bert Sims, and Bob Parks. Many have helped during the years. Our callers now are Tina Swanson, Harry Hammonds, John and Carol Ingram, Bob and Joyce Greenhaw, Janet Cox, and Peg Krick. Thelma Dodd sends cards. Don Johnson meets with us.
Our group meets every other month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:15 p.m. in the Conference Room. We tell how many calls we have made, sign up for two more months, report on visits made and discuss any special needs.
We would love to have more members so there could be a hospital caller from the church nearly every day. If you would be interested in joining a wonderful ministry of the church, please call Joyce Greenhaw, 237-5115 or Don Johnson, 402-2612. You will be blessed.
